Yarrow: Common white wildflower that's also pink

I've seen Yarrow often, and think of it as an interesting white prairie wildflower. But this summer, I stumbled (yes, literally... the ground was riddled with gopher holes) onto Yarrow that flowered pink!

And a soft, delicate pink, too. A faint blush or wash of colour — but enough to be clearly noticeable.

The just-opening flowers seemed to be a darker shade of pink, which made me wonder if these I'd photographed fully open would perhaps fade even paler with age.

I found these plants in the Frenchman River campground at Grasslands National Park. (And yes, there were white Yarrow plants growing there, too.)

    1. It depends how mild the spring is, but I haven't seen flowers until at least late April. Prairie crocuses start to come up any time time from then through May -- one year, they were flowering at Mother's Day, other years, it's been earlier.

    2. Thank you :) So it is very similar here in the Yukon. Do you know any other websites/blogs that cover prairie wildflowers?
