And a soft, delicate pink, too. A faint blush or wash of colour — but enough to be clearly noticeable.
The just-opening flowers seemed to be a darker shade of pink, which made me wonder if these I'd photographed fully open would perhaps fade even paler with age.
I found these plants in the Frenchman River campground at Grasslands National Park. (And yes, there were white Yarrow plants growing there, too.)

Thank you for sharing all these beautiful wildflowers, as i am on kind of on a quest to raise awareness.. ehhh I was just wondering when do you see the first flowers appearing, is it another month? or when you look can one find a fluffy crocus bud poking up already in March or late Febr.? Thanks, Jozien
ReplyDeleteIt depends how mild the spring is, but I haven't seen flowers until at least late April. Prairie crocuses start to come up any time time from then through May -- one year, they were flowering at Mother's Day, other years, it's been earlier.
DeleteThank you :) So it is very similar here in the Yukon. Do you know any other websites/blogs that cover prairie wildflowers?
DeleteOops, i just see you have links! that is wonderful, thank you!
DeleteI may not have Yukon links - but I'm sure the same Yarrow grows there!
DeleteAll my best,
